Broomfield STEM Student Fee Structure
The mission of Broomfield STEM is to make quality, hands-on STEM learning opportunities accessible, inclusive and fun for all. We never want cost to be a barrier to participation, so beginning in the Fall of 2026 we are implementing a tiered student fee structure to support families who need assistance with student fees.
Our tiered fee model relies on trust and a shared commitment to students in the Broomfield STEM Community.
Here is what that means:
Every program has a regular fee that covers the actual cost for one student to participate in a session. If your family is able to pay the regular fee, please do so and reserve the Community Supported fees for students who would not be able to participate without them.
Families are asked to choose the highest fee they are able to pay. Our community is happy to provide the support you need, but we rely on families to be honest about what they can contribute each year.
There are no income guidelines or applications. We do not use calculators or income-based criteria to assign fees. We trust you to pay what you are able each year, and we recognize that needs and what you can pay may change from year to year. (If you need a baseline to help you select a fee, we suggest that families who qualify for reduced lunch consider using the 75% community support code, and families who qualify for free lunch consider using the full community support code. To determine if your family would qualify for free or reduced lunch, click here.)
Community supported spots are not limited*. We never want cost to be a reason your family doesn’t participate. Choosing a reduced fee for your family will not take funding or a spot away from another family, so please choose the tier that you need.
Your tier choice will be held in strict confidence. Only Broomfield STEM administrators will have access to your choice,. We are committed to ensuring that all of our participants share the same high quality experience despite their tier choice.
*We reserve the right to cap the number of Community Supported Fees to ensure the sustainability of our programs, but spots are not capped at this time.
There is enough community support to go around — as long as everyone pays what they can and uses only what they need.
If your family is able to pay-it forward, please consider donating to our Community Support Fund to help fund the fees of other STEM loving students in our community.
How it Works
Register your student for their desired 2026-2027 Program in Jumbula. (Note that codes do not apply to 2026 Summer Camps.)
At the end, enter the Coupon Code for your chosen tier at Check Out.
Enter your credit card and pay the 10% non-refundable deposit to hold your spot. (Deposits are 10% of your chosen fee and are included in the annual fee listed for your program.)
Choose if you want the remainder of your fee to be charged all at once on June 1st, twice per year on June 1st and December 1st, or monthly for 12 months (June-May).
About Community Supported Fees
Broomfield STEM was founded by families committed to giving all STEM loving kids access to quality STEM learning opportunities, regardless of their family’s income level. That is why Broomfield STEM is a 501c3 non-profit instead of a for-profit organization. With use of the space generously provided by Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, the thousands of hours donated by over 50 volunteer mentors and helpers, and a growing number of private donations, sponsorships, and grants, we are able to keep our regular fees at or below market rate for everyone, and provide financial support for those who need it in order to participate. The goal for our student fees is not to make money. It is to make quality STEM learning opportunities accessible for everyone in Broomfield and the surrounding communities while ensuring that Broomfield STEM is sustainable well into the future.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I choose different tiers for my different children and their programs?
Yes! We recommend determining the maximum amount your family can afford to pay for Broomfield STEM programs each year, and then use the different coupon codes to get to that amount. NOTE: YOU CAN ONLY CHECK OUT WITH ONE COUPON CODE AT A TIME IN JUMBULA, AND THAT CODE WILL APPLY TO ALL STUDENTS AND PROGRAMS IN YOUR CART. This means that to use different codes, you will need to check out each child or program separately. We apologize for the inconvenience - that’s how registration in Jumbula is set up and we aren’t able to change it.
Do I still have to pay a non-refundable deposit if I choose a Community Supported Fee?
Yes. The amount of the deposit is 10% of the annual fee you choose, and needs to be paid to hold your spot. (Deposits provide us with the funds we need ahead of time to prepare our programs for the coming year.) The amount of the deposit is included in your annual fee, so it will be deducted from your chosen annual fee before payments are calculated charged on June 1st.
Can my student use community supported funds for more than one program at a time?
Yes! We ask that you pay as much as you can - even if it means paying different tiered fees for different programs, but if your STEM loving child wants to participate in multiple programs, they are welcome to do so! (Please note that all of our programs have a 75% attendance policy to participate in future sessions, so if your family cannot commit to regular attendance, please consider leaving a spot for someone else.)
How are Community Supported Fees funded?
Community Supported Fees are funded by generous donations from individuals, company sponsorships, grants written by Broomfield STEM staff and volunteers, and by Broomfield STEM fundraising efforts. It takes a great deal of time and effort to raise these funds, so while we are happy to provide them, we do ask that families only use what they need in order to participate.
Would it be better for me to pay the highest fees I can, or choose a lower fee and donate money to the Community Support Fund?
You must pay the highest fee you are able/required to pay first. Donations made in exchange for goods or services are NOT tax-deductible, so you cannot make a donation in place of paying student fees. If you have paid the regular fee for all students in your family, then your donation to the Community Support Fund may be tax deductible. Please consult a tax professional for more information.
What if my financial situation changes after I choose my tier(s) at registration?
Whether you end up needing more community supported assistance, or less during the year, please contact us if your financial situation changes dramatically so we can work with you to find a solution.
