New Mentor Checklist
Please complete these steps in order, and enter the same email address in all of these steps. Thank you!
If you haven’t already, please watch this 20 minute training on getting started as a FIRST Mentor.
Read the Broomfield STEM Mentor Expectations and Code of Conduct
Submit the New Mentor Application for Broomfield STEM
Apply to your assigned program and team number (Contact Jamie for assignment)
Complete the FIRST Consent and Release Form (Follow the red notification dot)
Wait to be accepted to the team before continuing to next step (Watch for an email from FIRST)
Follow the directions in the email to complete the Youth Protection Training and Screening. All mentors with Broomfield STEM must complete these.
Create a SLACK account on the Broomfield STEM workspace (Watch for an email after your Youth Protection Screening is passed)
You will automatically be added to #announcements, #general, #mentors-all, and all team specific channels once your account is set up
Sign the Volunteer Liability Release form and give it to Clara or Jamie
Complete your column on your program’s Mentor Availability Spreadsheet (pinned to your program’s mentor channel in Slack), and update it whenever you learn of changes to your schedule. Please remember to also notify a lead mentor when you will not be available to attend a meeting, as far in advance as possible.

Returning Mentor Checklist
Returning mentors should complete these steps every June. The administration team appreciates your timely help with these!
Review the Broomfield STEM Mentor Expectations and Code of Conduct
If you are a Lead Mentor, Team Coordinator, or member of the Broomfield STEM Administrative Team, please re-watch the FIRST Data & Privacy Protection Video.
Apply to your assigned program and team(s) (if different from the previous year)
Complete the FIRST Consent and Release Form (Follow the red notification dot)
Youth Protection Screenings must be repeated every 4 years. Please verify your status in the dropdown menu by your name in the upper right corner of the dashboard.
Update any changes to your contact information, emergency contact information and medical status in Wild Apricot.
Complete your column on your program’s Mentor Availability Spreadsheet (pinned to your program’s mentor channel in Slack) and update it whenever you learn of changes to your schedule.
