Camp Counselors & Volunteers
Summer wouldn’t be the same without camp, and at Broomfield STEM we think camp is a perfect way to get messy and explore Science, Technology, Engineering and Math concepts in all their awesomeness. Perfect for someone who loves kids and STEM but can’t mentor year round, our camp volunteers can make a short term commitment that has a big impact.
Camp counselors should expect to be onsite for the entire week of camp, arriving an hour before camp starts, and leaving an hour after it ends each day. Counselors will be assigned a group of 8-10 students for the week and will be responsible for leading basic activities, ensuring the safety of our campers, and working with guest presenters and “experts”.
Camp volunteers are needed as support staff - helping with materials prep, activity set up, lunch monitoring and clean up, or running an activity or station. Camp volunteers are welcome to help all week, but are not required to do so. We’ll take you when we can get you!
All camp volunteers must take the FIRST youth protection training, pass a background check, compete our volunteer application and provide references.
Leadership Opportunities Within Broomfield STEM
-
Volunteer Coordinator
Volunteers are the heart of Broomfield STEM, and as more people step forward to volunteer, we need a coordinator to welcome new volunteers, help them find just the right role for them, complete the steps needed to volunteer, and help us recognize their hard work and accomplishments. If you are a good organizer, a good listener, and you love people, this might be the job for you!
-
Special Events Coordinator
Channel your inner party planner for a great cause! Broomfield STEM hosts several organization-wide events each year and we need someone to help us coordinate the logistics and volunteers to make those events a success. Events currently include hosting an FLL scrimmage in the fall, an FTC tournament the first Saturday in January, an End-of-Year Celebration the first Sunday in May, and a simple float in the Broomfield Days Parade in September. With the help of our special events team, we hope to add a few more gatherings such as a kick-off picnic over the summer, a few fundraising events, a few educational field trips during the school year, and workshops for mentors and parents.
The Special Events coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, Administrative Director, Marketing Director and Fundraising Coordinator, and will coordinate a team of volunteers who are happy to share the load. This coordinator is not expected or encouraged to do all the work themselves. Many hands make light work. We just need someone to steer everyone in the same direction!

Fundraising Coordinator
Our approach to fundraising focuses on building and supporting the Broomfield STEM community in collaboration with members of the larger community. We think fundraisers should be FUN! Pizza parties at iPie, Bowling nights, dinners together, Parents' Nights Out . . . our fundraisers offer us time to play together and meet others in the community while also raising money for our cause. If this approach appeals to you, we need your help!
As Broomfield STEM expands, so does our need to fund raise. We hope to host 3-4 FUN fundraising events each year that have a high return on investment. (We want to spend our time on our students - not on elaborate fundraisers.) If this is something you would like to help us organize, we would love to welcome you on board!

Board Members
As Broomfield STEM expands, we are looking to grow our Board with members that have the expertise, connections and vision that we need to increase our impact in and around the Broomfield and STEM communities.
We are seeking:
- A board member well connected within the Broomfield Non-Profit community who can help us collaborate with other organizations and entities to help us all achieve our common goals.
- A board member well connected within the Tech Community in the Broomfield/Boulder County area who can help us identify companies with whom we can form partnerships as we work to educate and inspire the future tech workforce.
- A board member well connected within BVSD, Adams 12 and Jefferson County who can help us start and grow partnerships that benefit Broomfield STEM students, and students throughout the three school districts that serve students in Broomfield County and the surrounding communities.
More information can be found on the "Board" page of our website.
