Designed just for preschoolers, our Play Days offer children time for open, STEAM based play that encourages them to explore beginning science, technology, engineering, art and math concepts through experimentation and problem solving. Our precursor to Early Engineers, Play Days is organized by educators, supported by our FIRST Tech Challenge students, and is great fun for all!
Resources for Parents
Does your kiddo ask “why” a lot? Does he turn every toy into a building toy? Is she curious about technology? Does he love to solve puzzles? Is she fascinated with numbers? If the answer to any of these is yes, you might have a budding STEM kid! Our STEM Play Days offer parents resources to help support their children’s natural STEM tendencies, and encourage parents to connect with other parents whose children have similar interests.
Preschool Play Days - Choose the option that is best for your child!
Come for the whole session, drop in later or leave early! Use this time in whatever way works best for your family. An adult is required to stay with their student(s) the entire time. Coffee and light refreshments will be available for the adults. Students may choose to bring a water bottle or light snack if they need it, but no other supplies are needed.
STEM Play Time with more kids to play with, noisier toys and purposefully planned whole body activities make this the ideal session for children that prefer less restriction on their play.
Low Sensory STEM Play Time with fewer students, quieter toys, and purposefully planned low sensory activities make this the ideal session for children that need a quieter space to thrive.
During the 2025-2026 school year we will host two Preschool Play Days:
Saturday, November 1, 2025
Low Sensory STEM Play Time - 9:00 -10:15 am
STEM Play Time - 10:30 - 11:45 am
Saturday, April 18, 2026 (tentative date)
We believe all young children can thrive in STEM, and we strongly encourage girls, students of color, students who are neuro-diverse, and students who are still learning English to join us. All are welcome!
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - PLEASE READ
Where do you meet?
All Play Days are held in the Parish Hall of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church - 1700 10th Avenue in Broomfield, Colorado. Holy Comforter is our generous host, but our programs are strictly secular, no religious content is taught or discussed, and people of any or no faith background are welcome. Please park in the front (west) parking lot and enter through the double red doors.
How much does it cost to participate?
The cost is $10/student or $20/family of 2 or more students and is due at the time of registration. Scholarships are available upon request - we never want cost to be a barrier to participation.
Please note: Student Fees help cover part of the cost of materials, planning and space use for these events. The rest of the cost is paid for through individual donations, grants, and corporate sponsorships. Any help parents can provide with these additional sources of funding is most appreciated! Please see the "Support Us" tab for more information.
What is the cancellation policy?
We apologize, but due to the transaction fees we are required to pay and the low cost to participate, we are not able to offer refunds for cancellations to this event. We are able to offer program credit to attend a future program, or you can donate your fee to our scholarship fund to help remove financial barriers for other students who want to participate. Either way, if you know you are not going to be able to attend, we ask that you let us know as far in advance as possible so we have time to offer your spot to another child.
Does my student have to participate in both Play Days?
No, although we hope you will! Students who register for the fall Play Day, or add their name to the fall Play Day waitlist, will receive advanced notice when it’s time to register for the Spring Play Day. (We cannot guarantee space will be available, so please watch for our email and register early!)
Can we bring siblings with us?
Play Days are designed specifically for children ages 3-5 and their parents. Due to space limitations and the age appropriateness of the activities, we cannot welcome older siblings at this time. Younger siblings in strollers or carriers are welcome as long as they don’t keep parents from supervising and interacting with their preschooler. Diaper changing facilities are available if needed.
