Session #1 at Ryan Elementary School
Mondays - 2:30 - 3:30 pm
September 14, 2026 - October 19, 2026 (No class Oct. 12th)
Cost: $125* (5 Sessions)
Some adventurous squirrels need help completing exciting challenges including ziplining, parachuting, catapulting and more in their pursuit of snacks. Are you up for the challenge?
Students will learn about structural engineering and practice developing models to see how the shape of an object impacts the function (K-2-ETS1-2). They will compare their inventions and analyze performance to help their squirrel friends through their daring adventures!
Session #2 at Ryan Elementary School
Mondays - 2:30 - 3:30 pm
October 26, 2026 - December 14, 2026 (No class Nov. 23rd or Dec. 7th)
Cost: $150* (6 Sessions)
Race around the world and complete nature themed building challenges to help your team to victory.
Students will use nature to inspire building projects and develop their understanding of life science while practicing defining problems and designing solutions that meet criteria and constraints (3-5-ETS1-1). They will learn all about adaptation, biomimetic engineering and the importance of learning from the natural world when solving problems.

January 25, 2027 - March 8, 2027 (No class Feb. 15th)
Cost: $150*(6 Sessions)
Take an imaginary trip to Antarctica to learn how humans use engineering to survive in the Earth’s harshest environments. Create solutions to keep your travel party warm, find food, travel on the ice and snow, and take some time to play with the locals!
Students will learn about how humans use technology to adapt to living and research animals in different environments on earth while inventing their own solutions for survival in cold climates (K-2-ETS1-1).
Session #4 at Ryan Elementary School
Mondays - 2:30 - 3:30 pm
April 5, 2027 - May 17, 2027 (No class May 3rd)
Cost: $150* (6 Sessions)
Getting from one place to another is hard when nature puts a giant hole in the way! Help bridge the gap and find inventive ways to get over and around nature’s obstacles.
Students will learn about structural engineering and carry out tests to determine the best ways to build structures that help people cross the gap (3-5-ETS1-3). They will practice iteration to find the best solutions and gather evidence to support their models.
*Unfortunately at this time we are not able to offer our tiered student fee structure to students participating in our programs at Ryan Elementary. To learn how you can help us bring this pricing option to Ryan, please contact us at info@broomfieldstem.org.
